Projects
2010
We have received Local Agenda 21 funding to pursue projects in 2010, including the following:
- Fruit-tree planting – we will shortly be ordering fruit trees to be planted with interested communities and schools. The trees will mostly be native Irish apple varieties.
- Community gardens – some residents’ groups have expressed an interest in starting community food initiatives in their area – we will be working with these groups to help progress these ideas.
2009
In 2009 we ran a small number of projects. We did some seed planting and planting on with young people from Cooleens Close community. We participated in County Heritage Day in cooperation with Aimsir Bia from Cashel where we built an allotment in the ‘farmyard’, and did workshops with children (see Gallery). We also ran a half-day seminar on ‘Feeding Clonmel’ in cooperation with Clonmel Transition Town, which looked at the challenges and opportunities of building a local food system.
